No Heat or No AC? Emergency HVAC Help in Oklahoma
When the house is getting dangerously hot or cold, say so right away when you call.
No heat / no AC emergency
What usually goes wrong
Tell the provider up front if you have no heat or no cooling, and mention anyone in the home who is elderly, an infant or medically fragile. After-hours and weekend availability depends on the provider, and emergency visits can cost more, so ask about the service fee first.
In summer heat with no AC: close blinds, stay on the lowest floor, drink water and use fans. If anyone shows signs of heat illness, such as confusion, a very high body temperature or fainting, call 911 and move them somewhere cool.
In winter or during an ice storm with no heat: close off unused rooms, use space heaters only if they plug directly into a wall outlet and stay clear of bedding and curtains, and open cabinet doors under sinks on outside walls so pipes stay warmer. Never heat the house with an oven, grill or generator indoors.
